Thailand 🇹🇭
Phuket
Tips
- Buy fruit from roadside fruit stands, especially mangosteens!!!
Attractions
There’s so many beaches in Phuket, but we liked how quiet this one was!

Go at sunrise! Lots of monkeys also, if you’re into that

Food
More upscale (it was for my Dad’s birthday), but delicious food, beautiful scenery, and great happy hour!

Well worth the drive out, amazing seafood offerings in huts over the water! Recommend the sea grapes

Traditional Thai dishes, my family still thinks about the tom yum soup a year later

Chiang Mai
Tips
- Going back, I would’ve seen elephants! That’s something I missed in my itinerary
- No place in particular, but would recommend trying Thai tea!
Attractions
Out of the 7 smaller temples we visited in the city, our group unanimously agreed this was our favourite!

Quiet riverside temple - it was really cool to see people releasing frogs, fish, tadpoles, shellfish into the river as part of the Buddhist tradition

I only went to one Thai massage place, but I enjoyed this one enough to recommend it! It’s pricier, but professional.

Food
Chiang Mai has many night markets, but this was my favourite. The others (Kalare, Anusarn, Chiang Mai Night Bazaar) all felt too touristy imo. I’d recommend getting khao soi while you’re there!

Day Trips
Would recommend getting there for sunset so you can see it in both daylight and at night.

This was my favourite location of our larger Doi Inthanon National Park tour! These are the King’s and Queen’s stupas, beautiful interior and gardens

Bangkok
Tips
- They’re the basic ones to do, but Wat Arun and The Grand Palace really are phenomenal and worth your time. Recommend catching a free English tour for The Grand Palace!
- Watch a muay thai fight! We went to the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium because ONE Championship had an event there
Attractions
A must-needed place of quiet-ish to escape from the noise of the city

Highly recommend taking the hop-on/hop-off boat down the Chao Phraya river! If you catch it at sunset, you get beautiful views of the malls and temples.

Food
Awesome night market with a lot of selection, balance of modern cleanliness and authentic cuisine

I’m biased because this is a Taiwanese dessert, but the taro ice cream + peanut + cilantro wrap was incredible here. It’s part of the larger Ong Ang Walking Street, which is also a calmer part of Bangkok

GINGER FARM kitchen at ICONSIAM
More upscale restaurant in the ICONSIAM mall, this drink was so good we ordered it three times

Great rolled noodles with slices of various meats in Chinatown!
